Technical Official (World of Outlaws Late Models)

This role oversees the technical inspection process for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

Duties:

  • Travel to races for assigned series
  • Review participant’s equipment, including chassis, weight, safety features and mechanics for compliance with rules
  • Make fair and consistent judgments on penalties warranted by rule infractions.
  • Maintain records of inspections
  • Assist with the managing, loading and unloading of trailer.
  • Assist in training new technicians and/or race team members on technical specifications
  • Setup and teardown for the event including but not limited to: equipment, marketing deliverables, hospitality, etc.
  • Serve as a race official
  • Transport equipment and event materials using a company-provided vehicle. Said vehicle may range from a sedan to a near-commercial size trailer as needed.
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle is kept and maintained to company standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge or ability to quickly learn mechanics for World of Outlaws Late Model Series
  • CDL class A preferred
  • Previous experience operating and maintaining vehicles preferred
  • Able to verbally communicate effectively and professionally at all times
  • High sense of ownership and personal accountability required
  • Proven record of dependability and integrity
  • Good verbal skills
  • Sense of initiative necessary
  • History of and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Able to maintain positive demeanor, even in highly stressful or demanding situations

Notes:

  • This position is based in the home market
  • This role follows the World of Outlaws Late Model Series schedule; off-season travel averages 5% monthly
  • This position requires frequent walking and standing; the use of hands to grasp and feel frequently; the occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds; frequent bending, kneeling and twisting; and may require use of close vision.  This position is based outdoors.
  • When indoors, the safety concerns are those of a traditional office environment.  When at an event, the safety concerns include exposure to loud noises; exposure to dust, fumes and other irritants; exposure to outdoor elements; potential exposure to mechanical equipment; potential exposure to vehicles moving at varied rates of speed.  This position is expected to practice preventative safety measures at all times.
