If you’re out and about in Oswego during the week of Super DIRT Week, you can easily see the influx of traffic. The influx of people. The store shelves are empty, and the restaurants are jam packed. It’s really a neat thing to see here in town and it’s become one of the biggest events, if not the biggest event of the year, for Oswego County and certainly here in the city

Don Swope Classic

The American Sprint Car Series comes home to Creek County Speedway for a salute to one of its closest friends and one of Tulsa’s biggest dirt track racing supporters in the fifth annual Don Swope Classic.

After working as part of Series founder Emmett Hahn’s Chili Bowl Nationals crew for many years, Swope passed away from cancer in 2020 at the age of 66. In his honor, the Don Swope Classic memorial event was spawned in 2021, and today continues to honor his local legacy with the presentation of the big check, case of libations and pair of overalls — as Swope regularly wore around the racetrack.
