Director, Sports Event Marketing and Fan Experience (Concord, NC)

This role identifies, plans, communicates and manages marketing campaigns with an emphasis on ticket sales and overall fan experience for WRG events

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute sport event marketing plans with an emphasis on ticket sales to include social media, radio, direct mail, television and/or grassroots campaigns; ensure efforts meet budget expectations;  analyze effectiveness of campaigns; adjust strategy as needed
  • Initiate communications with event promoters and WRG stakeholders to identify and clarify marketing expectations and plans
  • Partner with WRG Event Department staff to develop pricing strategies to maximize profits and market share while offering patron and competitor value
  • Oversee the Fan Experience team’s at-track efforts to produce a high quality, entertaining fan experience
  • Manage assign staff including and not limited to: selection, training, coaching, assigning strategic and tactical responsibilities; and providing direct feedback
  • Partner with WRG and DIRTVision staff to plan and execute special events such as midway events, stage shows, etc.
  • Employ marketing analytic techniques to gather important data (social media, web analytics, etc.)
  • Enter, update and maintain the department’s financial requests using the company approved systems
  • Accurately order and approve marketing materials, ensuring timely delivery, costing and proofreading
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Background:

  • Minimum of 7 years previous sports event marketing or related experience
  • BS/BA degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Communications strongly preferred
  • Understanding of and interest in dirt-track racing preferred; genuine willingness to learn necessary
  • Previous management experience useful
  • Thorough understanding of marketing analytics needed
  • High sense of ownership and personal accountability required

Notes:

  • This is an in-person role based in Concord, NC
  • In addition to a traditional work week, this position may be utilized during evening and/or weekend hours, especially during racing season
  • This position requires frequent sitting and occasional walking; the use of hands to grasp and feel frequently; the occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds; may require the use of close vision
  • Monthly overnight travel averages 25-50%, especially during race season (February – November)
