Sr. Manager, Business Development (Concord, NC)

This new role is responsible for generating and driving new opportunities for corporate sponsorship and partners across the entire ecosystem of WRG properties

Responsibilities:

  • Meet department and personal sales targets by developing new sales leads and actively prospecting daily for new corporate partners
  • Research and build relationships with local, regional, and national companies/brands to highlight the advantages of partnering with WRG
  • Execute the entirety of the sales process: prospecting, building/presenting sales presentations and end-of-year recaps, creating proposals, creating/negotiating contracts, etc.
  • Manage sales leads and engagement process and develop relationships with key contacts at prospective partner organizations
  • Work with internal teams, race teams, tracks, media partners and other stakeholders on revenue development strategies
  • Develop sales proposals and collateral for existing and potential sponsors
  • Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of the sports sponsorship landscape including traditional, non-traditional and digital marketing assets
  • Stay up-to-date on changes and advancements within the industry
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Background:

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, Marketing, Communications or relevant field of study
  • At least seven years proven experience in Sponsorship Sales, Media Sales or Sports Industry Sales; equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable
  • Demonstrated ability to create new and maintain existing C-Suite relationships
  • Strong relationships and contacts in the corporate sponsorship industry
  • Knowledge of and interest in dirt-track racing preferred; genuine willingness to learn necessary
  • Track record of achieving sales quotas
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • High sense of ownership and personal accountability

Notes:

  • This is an in-office role based in Concord, NC
  • 25% – 50% average monthly travel during racing season.
  • In addition to a traditional work week, this role may be utilized in weekends and/or evenings, especially during racing season
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting and occasional standing and walking. Frequent use of hands to grasp and feel. Use of near and far vision in natural and artificial light, both in daylight and night. Use of voice is needed for in-person, telephonic and online purposes. Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. This position is primarily based indoors with potential exposure to the elements when at an event. Due to event safety concerns, the ability to hear is important.
