This person will cover the assigned series with the objective of promoting the series, events and brand through new and traditional public relations.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to assigned events; provide race recaps immediately after an event; additional and/or extended race reports and/or features as needed
- Use WRG social media to promote events and increase attendance
- Conduct victory lane and/or other interviews with notable participants
- Create written and/or video and/or audio features for distribution and/or websites; ensure a continuing supply of features
- Create weekly newsletter distributed to fan database
- Maintain current statistics on assigned series
- Develop, write and distribute pre-event promotional materials and/or features on an on-going basis
- Promote assigned series to local, regional and national media; proactively contact local, regional and national media to ensure coverage
- Update points, photos, video and other content on assigned website(s); ensure content is current and accurate
- Provide on-site marketing support as needed, including but not limited to: polling, signage, hospitality, fan interaction, and guest/sponsor relations.
- Liaison with participants, teams and owners; coordinate media access to participants
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- At least two years of previous Journalism or Public Relations experience
- BS/BA degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or Sports Management required
- Understanding of motorsports industry needed
- Familiarity with short track dirt racing strongly preferred
- High comfort level with internet usage; experience with web content management helpful
- Strong writing ability required
- High sense of ownership and personal accountability required
Travel:
- Between 10% – 90% overnight travel with the bulk occurring during the busiest months of racing
