General Manager

This full-time role oversees the day-to-day operations and leadership of Volusia Speedway Park.

Duties:

  • Ensuring an entertaining, safe and competitive race event, with an eye toward quality and quantity of competitors, track preparation, fair and consistent officiating, and fan experience
  • Hiring, training, managing and coaching staff
  • Scheduling events through the year such as races, special events, and track rentals
  • Soliciting and maintaining sponsorships
  • Meeting or reducing expenses in accordance with the budget
  • Ensuring control and accuracy of company assets
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company practices
  • Serving as a facility ambassador in the community
  • Promoting events through both traditional and new avenues
  • Addressing and resolving concerns from fans, competitors and the community
  • Applying creative thinking and problem-solving skills to address issues without increasing costs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of dirt race track preparation
  • At least two years of previous management experience, preferably in a similar environment
  • Able to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Able and willing to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Able to juggle multiple high-priority tasks
  • Able to maintain a positive and productive disposition
  • High sense of ownership and personal accountability required
  • Proven record of dependability and integrity
  • History of and willingness to work in a team environment

Other Information:

  • In additional to a traditional work week, this position may be required to work nights and/or weekends, especially during the racing season
  • The physical demands include and aren’t limited to standing, sitting, twisting, climbing stairs, and frequent use of hands to grasp and feel. The use of close vision in artificial and natural light is necessary. This position may sometimes lift up to 50 pounds. Safety concerns necessitate hearing. This position is located both indoors and outdoors and preventative safety measures should be taken in all instances.
  • This average monthly travel is 5% or less for this role, including overnight or day trips.
